i have been seeing some roaches and other bugs in my roosting area, mainly near nesting boxes, i have used mortein naturgard fly spray in aviaries before i even had the bugs fall to the ground with it on them and get eaten by the quails with no ill effect, but i was thinking of using one of those auto sprayers in the roosting area but am unsure of the effects with prolonged exposure. just wondering what peoples thoughts would be and if you think it would work.

Coopex would probably be somewhat safer to use.

Had same problem here and coopex just didnt help this time...so got some Permethrin based Exterior Surface Spray and sprayed a border about 18" off the floor around inside and outside of aviary...problem fixed..no dead or ill birds (month ago)

Toothlessjaws,

Had a massive black ant problem, try the Talon Ant Gel. Find the nest and then the trail to the aviary. Couple of spots along the trail and entry point did the trick for me. They take the gel back to the nest and after a couple of repeats its goodnight charlie. Just have to be alert when you see the little devils active. They can and will do terrible damage to nestlings, nothing worse to see hatchlings jumping nest because of the ants, even worse to find skeletons of 1 or 2 day old chicks in the nest. I still use the coopex, works pretty good but for breaches in the perimiter the Talon does the job for me. Benefit is that it is used outside.

Give it a try.

Ken.
