hi all, I love breeding finches, gouldians are my favourite I have 50 plus gouldians 10 blackhearts and one pair of cordon blues, just bought some cordon blues. And have had blackheart finches for years, anyway. My rant, seems East Coast has finch forums, can't even get one here be nice to have contacts locally, talk to experienced bird keepers tips and tricks. Lucky for YouTube . Shame. Greens and grains, seem the best very popular on this forum. Even some seed that comes from East Coast like golden cob, 70 bucks 20 kg, and it doesn't sprout well I reckon a couple of seeds per hundred grams. Unless some one pm s me as to obtaining some sort of greens grains. Panic grass, were to locate, I live secret harbour so it doesn't grow ,to many houses....can't seem to get to bird shows, I work most weekends, is bird keeping more popular East Coast?. Or is most bird keepers keep to there small clicky groups. I'm sure there are many people like me that would really like a local forum, to meet local breeders ...

There are plenty of wa members on here. Im sure they can help. As for all the other issues you can solve them by moving to nsw and getting a job that is mon to fri.

There are clicks but you get that in any club or forum. You have to build trust before people open their aviaries and knowledge to others.

Gees Paul, chuck a wammy why don't you,if you haven't got the time for your birds get rid of them.Maybe it's where you live,Secret Harbour and every thing bird related is a secret and nobody wants to spread their ideas.Seriously though, there has to be other bird breeders where you live where you can get together and exchange ideas, buy things as a group and just talk birds. The aviculture club has their monthly sale on this Sunday if you're not working. Always plenty of people wanting to chat about birds there.

Most my time of is weekdays, and I work 3 weekends per mth. Would love to go, even though I have had birds 15 plus years, it's nice to speak to experience d people. That's why I was hoping for wa chat. One comment trust, yes I totally agree, we guard our feathered friends they mean so much to us. The time, money, but we are passionate about this hobby

Come to the Finch Soc of WA meeting next Tuesday In Osborne Park,we are having a talk from two Qld finchos, Gary Fitt and Cheryl Mares.
Each will be talking for approx 40 mins. All are welcome to attend , also there are a lot of south of the river members in the Soc.
I buy a local Finch Mix from Cunderdin, it sprouts well and is cheaper than most other brands, Jandakot Stock and Seed supplies sell it.

Cheers Greg.

Me again, Jandakot stock feeds, Cunderdin seed awesome, I always was told all seed comes from East Coast, does the seed have a brand name ? Or just ask which seed is from Cunderdin. Meetings in Osbourne park. Long way to go but I will check my roster, shift worker. Cheers

Hi Paul, I am new to finches having built my first avairy last August. I live in Baldivis which is not far from you. Whilst I doubt I will have any answers that you don't have I am always happy to chat. I also work shift work and lose most weekends. Maybe we can catch up during the week sometime. Anyway, just to let you know you are not Robinson Crusoe
