Yesterday when I got home from work one of my female gouldian hens were sitting on the floor. The first thing I looked at is to see if see is injured but I could not find anything. I tried suzing her into flying but to no avail. Can anybody help or who have experienced this. No it is not egg binding.

How old is she? Have you treated for air sac mites before? Are you sure not egg bound? Fluffed up? Put her in a warm cage with some spark overnight. Soiled vent, wet aviary? Has it been cool overnight? Heaps of questions. Hope all goes well.

At this time of year in the southern hemisphere I still wouldn't rule out egg-binding even if not fluffed up, etc. I have a maiden hen losing the ability to fly every second day lately as she struggles to lay her first clutch. I guess the warm weather (here at least) is preventing the usual fluffing up which generally typifies egg-bound hens at cooler parts of the year.

Actually it is none of the above. The hen does not have eggbound (i am very sure) and I have treated it for airsac mite before.

The bird is still not flying. I think it might have hurt itself but there is no evidence of it.
