Hi all, if you've been following this thread you'd be aware that I've been working on some bird management software.
I'm looking for people to test and provide feedback. Basically, I want people to try to bend, break and crash it to make it as solid as possible before I release it publicly. I will be very liberal in handing out free copies of the finished product to people who have helped make it a reality ;)
There's still some features that aren't complete. Finding unrelated birds and mapping complex genealogy relationships are examples of things that are still in progress, and probably won't make it into version 1.0
Things you can currently do:
- Create aviaries, which are like folders full of birds
- Add birds, including descriptions, basic genealogy, leg band info, pictures etc.
- Manage the list of species you currently stock.
Runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8. Windows XP users may need to download the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 before AviManage will function.

After a very brief muck around, this looks fantastic, very easy interface, plenty of room for me to record the info I want to.
I think you're onto a winner here
With the exception that once you close the program, then try to open it again, all the data is gone.

Well that's not good. I just changed where the data is stored, let me know if that fixes the problem. (Will need to redownload and install)With the exception that once you close the program, then try to open it again, all the data is gone.

Nice, simple, intuitive program. I have had a brief play with it and have found some little problems and have some suggestions. Do you want to hear these as we go or would you prefer a more considered response after using it for a few days?
