In a lecture that I attended years ago, it was specifically stated that Gouldians do their business in the nest. I have NOT personally in 30years seen a pair of Gouldians mounting on a perch.
On that basis mybe your boxes are too small.

just thinking.... if my birds have been previously heavily medicated from the breeder I bought them from, and that has caused their infertility, does anyone know if the birds will become fertile again soon since I've not used any medications so far? Or once infertile, always infertile?\

Medication infertility is a short term thing. Just one question I notice has not been asked. Do your birds get sunlight? If they are in a garage without sunlight it could be a vitamin D dificency. Welcome to the forum.

thankyou finchbreeder for ur comments. I've actually spoken to 2 breeders now and ive told them who ive bought my finches from and they both say they believe my finches aren't breeding because they have probably been overmedicated. grrrr! so im currently looking for some 'non-medicated' gouldians that will breed this year.... also, I'm giving my gouldians in the garage vitamin d supplements for inside caged birds, however I also have some gouldians outside in my aviary that are on eggs so im waiting to see the result of that too :)

Apart from advice given over the net or phone has any other finch breeders seen your setup. Sometimes we can over look the 'obvious' problem's but a someone else can look at your setup for the first time (fresh set of eyes) can see, hear or smell what the problem is and how to provide a solution to correct or improve the situation.
