I think you convinced me to only use it in the seed (my original plan) rather than dusting them (which I thought later on could also work).
Because of the 0.5% Crystalline silica still present (Food Grade), I will use a mask as an overkill for safety precautions when I add it to the seed. I will remove the self feeders from the aviary and only add the seed when I am far away from the birds.
I'll test it on some zebras first (although I see others have used it before me with success: http://www.thebirdcottage.com/s-seed-daily.asp , http://www.friskyfinches.com/finchseed.htm , http://www.holisticbirds.com/pages/self ... on0203.htm and http://tiny.cc/Bqkz9 is where I first read of it. Just Google "Diatomaceous Earth finch" or something simmilar and see what comes up) and if I get positive results, I'll use it on the Gouldians.
http://www.holisticbirds.com/pages/self ... on0203.htmDiatomaceous Earth is a very powdery kind of dust, so make sure that you do not create any dust clouds when using it, otherwise it could cause eye and lung irritation. Remember that even whole wheat flour dust can cause eye and lung irritation if you breathe enough of it.
Thanx for all the input, I Appreciate it
