Was just quoted $33 per bag of bird seed direct from the farm delivered (400km away) to a Port Macquarie drop off point. A price drop of $5 a bag was $38 last month.

peter slade from Quirindi was selling finch mix at Gunnedah bird sale, $30.00 for 25kg.
very clean and fresh with no "fillers" like commercial stuff.
he did say his green's n grains barnyard grass crop failed due to rain at the wrong time.
well worth the visit(the sale) just to get quality seed.
not sure about freighting it....worth a call I suppose.

Peter does have very good home grown seed. Its the main consistent thing I usually bring home from the Gunnedah sale - his barnyard mix. I didn't get there this year though. Just waiting on his niger crop.
Matt Bryant (Gunnedah) has a very good barnyard mix lately too. I just got my millets, etc from Matt this arvo on his regular coastal seed delivery run.

I usually buy Peter's greens n grains mix when at the Gunnedah sale, a very good product.
I thought this year I would buy a couple of bags of Matt's greens n grains, seasonally available as well.
My intention was to compare the product with Peter's seed blend from last year. Visually different the 2 blends look. You have to remember to factor in that the seeds available to make up the seed mix depends on what is growing at the time of harvest and ultimately it will be the birds that choose what they do or don't like.
I have placed a bowl of each product in the aviaries this morning. Now to sit back and see which type of seeds in each blend that are preferred by my birds.
