Hi all
Just entered aviary and found this little guy on the ground. Observed 15 min, no one is coming to him. Is it baby cuban?
What to do if no one is feeding?
There is a little bit of food in his crop. When should I attempt to hand raise? Do I lift him in any nest and parents will find him?
(There are many grass nests that are empty.)
what finch is this

Thanks Tiaris. I do have Cordons too. There are red painted, orange breasted, red face parrots, zebras....many more.
There was tiny bit of food. However I found another one dead dry on the ground too so I feel this one will be left too.
No one came in last hour to feed him. Wouldn't parents fly around its chick?

Usually Cordons create a noisy fuss when their young fledge - constant agitated chattering & flitting about them. If he's brought into the warm house overnight & released first thing tomorrow he should still get fed in the morning.

I do believe that whatever it is , if its parents haven't created a fuss when you picked it up, IT HAS BEEN ABANDONED.
You should attempt to hand feed at least before you put it, if thats the road you take. Than if the parents don't feed it, it has a chance of surviving.
Good luck

Thanks for advices. I fed him twice before it got dark, left in one nest, hoped that parents will get in.
He was dead this morning, too cold.
I will prepare hospital cage with heating for next case. Sad as he was quite big.
