I attended the Cobden bird sale today in central west Victoria. This was their second sale after their inaugural sale last year.
The numbers through the door were well down on last year and many empty tables.
As many of you know on this Forum we here in Victoria are having problems with our sales and the selling of foreign birds
which include Canaries and Lovebirds to mention just 2 types. This ban had a huge affect on the sale today, they would
struggled to have benched 150 birds, the only finches I saw were Diamonds that Murf had sold and a few each of Double Bars
Blue Face,Emblemas and Stars, these would have accounted for about 50 of the birds benched.
I think it is critical for us aviculturists to show our support of these clubs by attending these sales, with turnouts like today
the future of sales in Victoria looks bleak.Newborough is on Sunday 5th July SEE YOU ALL THERE

Sorry to hear that news Jack. This really is going on far too long - crazy.
I have only received a "Thanks for your letter" from the minister's office in response to our FSA submission. This is most unsatisfactory and I intend to get stuck into them this week. This should have been resolved much more rapidly.

I received the net details for the act with my first email, the rest not even a reply.
I hope the Victorian controlling bodies are good enough and willing to take an educated direction to solve this problem.
It may interest members that two Melbourne Dealers actually drove the 300 kms to my home to buy ALL my non Aust. Finches.
All this female has done is force the birds into a retail situation. Instead of me catching birds in my bird room, going to a sale
and selling direct which should be the same day. My birds are now picked up and could be kept in a retail situation for several weeks.
If I was a bird I know which path I would prefer.

Wonder if anyone has checked if this "lady" has shares in any of the retail outlets?
