I've just emailed the minister using the links provided on this forum. I urge everyone to do the same. Send an email in your own words. It only needs to be a few sentences and will only take a few minutes.

I think that if everyone uses the same template the Minister will think it is only being driven by a few people, but by sending your own simple message she will eventually get the message s coming from 100's of people.

correct. that is simply two different photographs placed side by side. I agree however, that it is misleading as it implies a relationship between the filthy cage photograph and that of the bird sale.

The left hand side of that photo is on one of her websites without the right hand side. Clearly showing that this is not how it was until photoshopped.

Hi All,

this topic seems to have gone cold for a few weeks. Is there any progress on this problem.

I'm aware that the Minister intends to attend the Ballarat sale to see for herself our way of selling birds and the plight the current problem is causing. Can anyone add any further details??

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul, i believe that minister is from Ballarat and was voted into her position by Ballarat voters so she will need to give some answers as to what is happening or she might not be so successful when the next election comes around. Craig

I agree Paul- it's too quiet.
We need to keep the pressure up on the minister so that she knows that we will not just go away!
It just means that everyone should go and support the Ballarat sale if only to show the minister how many of us are affected by this and how passionate we are about our right to keep and breed birds both native and exotic.

Everything is true what Paul and Myzomela said,so what I did is went to my local M P of my area and sat down with them and explain my though what is happing to all our birds sale in Victoria and express my feeling what could happening in the future of our bird sale. I spoke about Minister has not come back with no proper response to the people who have sent letter to her. So they have sent her a letter on my behalf, what is happening to our bird sale and every out there should express there feeling to there local M P in all state,if we sit back and do nothing our bird sale will be destroy for the future.
That why I believe that his and her should support bird club and there bird sale in there state or our future hobby bird sale will be lost just for a stupid thing getting in the way, future bird sale hear hear.
Cheer Mr Tino

I totally agree,we need to get up off our bums ,i'm very surprised not to have heard more from the bird clubs themselves,no partions to sign, nothing really in the latest journal from the melboune branch,i think we should be bringing as much info to as many people as possible,a squeaky wheel always gets the most attention, garyh

The NFSA, QFS , AFS and some avicultural mags and newspapers have been publishing articles of late. They are working away at some of the obstacles as they can. They are working on getting up National codes to abide by from all states. This is somthing that is only going to help our cause by having a national standard at all sales to abide too.

Hi everyone,

I can confirm that approximately 2 weeks ago Victorian Minister Jaala Pulford was invited to attend the August 1st Ballarat Sale. There has been no response to this invitation from the Minister, so at this time it is unknown if she will attend. It would be most unusual for a Minister to attend such an event without prior knowledge. I will post here immediately should I learn that she has accepted the invitation.

To my knowledge, no organisation or person has received any written response to their submission from the Minister's office (apart from recognition of receipt of correspondence). I have personally been in contact with the Minister's office on a regular basis and to date no specific timeline for a response has been forthcoming - just a repeated commitment to a response ASAP. There is an ABA meeting this Tuesday in Sydney and a VAC meeting this Wednesday. It is my recommendation and understanding that a public statement will follow these meetings.

My perspective on this issue is that it is highly unlikely the issue will be resolved this year. We should be intelligent in our response so we use the time to reach resolution in our favour prior to the Victorian sale season in 2016.

Hope this helps somewhat,
Sam Davis
