I have just had my birthday, and my parents got me the book i've wanted for years! :D

It's the encyclopedia of estrildid finches by Matthew M. Vriends and Tanya Hemming-Vriends.

it's a fabulous book, and it was totally unexpected as it's very expensive! well worth the money though, and it has profiles on just about every finch, including one's i've never heard of, like the Grand Valley Munia.

By the way, for those who don't already know/have these books, these are my bibles, just in case anyone's looking for a good read:

Aviculture in Australia (Mark Shepard)
Encyclopedia of Exotic finches (Matthew M. Vriends & Tanya Hemming - Vriends)
Handbook of Cage and Aviary Birds (David Alderton)
The New Exotic Finch Handbook (Christa Koepff)

By the way, if anyone happens to have a copy of Russell Kingston's

'Keeping and Breeding Finches & Seedeaters'

that they don't want, please PM me! (not much of a hope but still  )

in regard to Russell's book your best chance is to search every 2nd hand shop you can find, maybe even try to have some friends in sydney do the same. took me forever to get a copy.
there is another book you are missing........Everybird by Pat McWhirter.A book about sick birds, and how to cure them (recomended by Gomer)

Happy Birthday Jaybird
Have been looking for Russell's book for some time myself, Amazon had a couple of copies, but won't take Paypal.
Also E-Bay but they were paperback and poor condition, and bad timing cash wise.
Ah well it will happen if it's meant to.
