Hi
I have a pair of blue face parrot finches on there third lot of young this season. First two clutches they hatched and raised
three young each no problems. The third and current nest they hatched 5, a week later head count 4 next day 3 found missing dead chick on ground under nest box. Today head count 2, looked in 8pm tonight and sure enough another chick squirming on the ground.
Went in and put it back in the nest.
I have a fair few gouldians that are just finished their moult and are in fine feather. My theory is maybe an eager male gouldian is trying to get a head start in breeding season and trying to vacate the nest box for himself.
What are your thoughts on the matter and has anyone had similar experiences/
cheers
Glenn

Good chance of that...make sure you have more than 2 or 3 nest boxes per pair at different levels etc
