I have a pair of gouldians with chicks (first ones ever!!) they're in a community aviary. Can you worm all the birds or should you wait till these young are fledged? I was going to use wormout gel.

I use moxidectin and I rang and checked with the people at Australian pigeon and they said the young should be feeding themselves before worming.

Having said that I have accidentally dosed a cock bird that was feeding young, the young were ten days old at the time. Everything was ok.....I suffered though, worried until they fledged...

Moxidectin (Scatt) shouldn't be given to birds under 6 months of age I am told.

I do not use moxidectin for the purpose of worming, though, I use it strictly for ASM.

Something like Morning Bird's Worm Away are completely safe to use throughout all life cycles including when the birds have babies.
