Just a warning to both readers and $Bill, even though $Bill was sent an email to only post on birds only when he reregistered he has posted in Finch Lounge a place to post anything but if it is going to start a bum fight again I ask $Bill to refrain from putting these types of pics with cars etc up or they will be deleted.
We really do appreciate his youtube vids and pics as it looks like they had a really great time up North so thanks for your input Graham, looking forward to more.

point taken. here's a good one 7 klm out from pine creek nt and 200 metre off the road in a near dried up creek bed

heres a better look at what happened. seconds earlier they had landed on that small dead branch to the left of the photo. about 30 in total including 3 masks and a couple of longtail grassfinches.
surprisingly they never went straight to the small rock pool but drank from water soaked rocks one to two metres from the main source. strange I thought as it was a very easy quick drink




now about 70 metres to my left was the last remaining water hole





but this guy had set up camp and used it on and off for the 3 days I was there twice daily. just come in hang around for a couple minutes then off. same perch always far left side of the fallen tree in creek bed

I am particularly impressed by the body type in these wild Gouldians.
What size were they? Bigger, smaller or very much the same as the average captive Gouldian?
