I would have to agree with the above comments regarding technology. Other than the stress of the occasional dropkick buyer (or seller - I'm sure we all have horror stories), buying online seems to be a much more convenient experience.

It was some 3 or 4 years since my last visit to Gunnedah and I was rather disappointed with the weekends sale.
Personally I think Orange Bird Sale has taken over as the premium sale.
The sale seems to have lost it's vitality and Orange is definitely more friendly.
I hope it's only my impression as the area really needs a successful sale and one to
run for years to come. The hard working people deserve it.

Yes, the sale was definitely much smaller. The decline was only in the last year though. Up until last year there was no noticeable decline, then a significant drop off this time. Far fewer finches this time too compared to parrots. I know of at least 3 regular finch sellers who didn't take any into the sale.

i must concur with previous comment.
the 1st Gunnedah sale that I can remember where there was room in the isles at the 10am opening, still plenty of interest but probably 20-30% down on previous years.
I took 24 finches and they all went before 11am, so was happy with that and I got to morph into a buyer then
not a great variety this year but some I noticed were Madagascar weavers, pictorella's, masked, Gouldian and zebra's of course. a pair of blue caps, Cubans, cordons, silver bills, cutthroats, diamonds, yellow rumps, double bars, redbrows, painted's, yellow siskins and song sparrows.
those aberdeen's were doing the rounds too, not sure if the same one's as previous sales....

I did notice several forum members who I hope enjoyed the day, as I did.
never been to a "bad" bird sale and I hope that continues.
