Here' it is -first one in the nest. Lime split blue. Hen is a purple breasted blue and the cock either a split or double split green back. either way it my first Lime/blue but not sure about it's nest mate. So last years young 2 purple back blue hens and possible split to white breasted housed in this aviary both carry the Lime Gene and now classed as Blue/Lime.
Hard to believe last year I bred 78 green backs and not a Lime amongst them. this year those young possible/possibles have thrown colours in all aviaries - limes -blues the greys now lime/blues and no doubt other combo's I am unaware of and its far from over with still 38 young still in nest boxes.
Don't underestimate possibles. The above bird on the perch would cost you $900ea not so the possibles. I am pretty sure these limes will be the key to the next mutation in the blues.
Well only my thoughts some like always will disagree. Mainly those who don't have them!
