A recent purchase on-line turned out to be leg rings much thicker than those I have bought in the past. Length & hole diameter is the same.

I am thinking twice about using them.

What do you think?

We had another topic on here that went horribly wrong regarding these rings BUT everyone is or should be allowed an opinion without upsetting the author of the post.
That said, I would not use them for my finches. They look bloody ridiculous and can't be good for a finch flying around with a 20ltr drum on its leg being compared to a human. :wtf:
We all breed birds to sell to put that money back into our birds be it new stock, seed and any other bird paraphernalia so don't sell yourself short by buying cheap imported stuff. Craig

Try bird bands.com they are an australian company and if you are unsure on size e-mail them, they are very helpful. The site is set up by clicking on bird breed and then the ring sizes come up. I have been banding my canaries with these plastic numbered split rings for the last 3 years, I put the bands on when they are around 10 days old. They are easily removed if required and the birds are fine with them. I have about 30 canaries so I find banding necessary so I am not interbreeding them. I also banded my gouldians when I got them so I could identify the parents from the babies. They got used to them really quickly and they don't bother them in the slightest.
