I've just got finch fever .. I bought a few in memory of my father who had finches and Ive found that I really like them.. Very cute and curious creatures. I have some white zebras a red star pair a gouldian pair and a couple juvenile gouldians from different breeders and I'm getting 2 cordon bleu females in a couple days

Thanks! I have one aviary it was my dads he gave away all his animals when he fell sick so I've just started to get a few again. I don't know much about finches yet..I didn't live here when he had them. Looking forward to learning about them and enjoying sitting down at the garden watching their cheeky little antics

That's a great looking avairy. You definitely should get into finches!

If you want to breed your birds (something most of us see as the whole appeal of the hobby) you should start with those that do not require live food. Its a pretty big commitment caring for a maggot farm just to raise birds. all the african waxbills (cordons, firefinches etc) need live food to breed so maybe focus on zebras and gouldians?

just watch that blue-tongue lizard. you may find it snacks on finch fledglings!
