Female yellow siskin becoming extremely aggressive?

Hey all,

just wondering what are some factors which would trigger a female yellow siskin to become aggressive - quite out of her normal character! She usually goes for the european greenfinches and canaries. I'm in Melbourne, does it got anything to do with their breeding season, etc?

Does she have a mate? Is she going for cocks or hens or both? How many nest sites in the avairy? Not answers I know, but might make it easier for someone to work out the cause of the problem.
