I Have a mate who is breeding the red suffusion in the chest in the yellow bodied stars. These birds look fantastic , interesting note to date only cocks have carried the red. Interested if anyone has bred a hen with this colouring.

Yes Bgould, I have two definite red suffusions and both are cock birds. What area is your mate in? Might be worth me connecting with him down the track.
The birds feast on Lebanese cucumber while the rest of us have to settle for the continental variety...says it all really!

I had these a few years ago but couldn't reproduce them, even bred siblings together. Yes only the cocks carried it.In this particular bird the red was bleeding down from the mask. Crappy pic as it's too large. Craig

Yes I've been searching old threads and saw that you had them Craig. I was going to try and pair some siblings and see what I find. May be futile but worth another crack

Actually he gave up with them FB and sent to a mates place in Sydney to hold for me to pick up but unfortunately i was too ill to drive to Sydney and told him to sell to a dealer,APP. The birds that are popping up now are probably remnants of those birds. Craigfinchbreeder wrote:Wonder how Aussie Bengo went with his? Anyone know? AB are you there?
