Hi All
After many years of not having finches (and parrots), my 10 year old has rekindled the interest. Hence why i why I am here. I used to breed Gouldians, painteds, stars, zebras, canaries and a few neophemas mainly Rosa Bourkes, Turks, Scarlets and Red rumps. But that was quite a while ago.
Currently in the process of converting a disused dog run into an aviary - 3m x 6m.
Daughter and i put together a small list of what we will be getting. Appreciate any comments of the suitability of the finches/parrots with each other.
Small internal aviary (3m(W) x1.5(L) x 1.8m(H):
Zebras x 5 pairs
Silver King Quail x 1 pair
Large external aviary with shelter (3m(W) x4.5(L) x 1.8m(H):
Painted x 1 pair
Star x 1 pair
Double-barred x 3 pairs
King Quail x Trio
Diamond dove x 1 pair
Bourkes parrot x 1 pair
Scarlet Chested parrot x 1 pair
Cheers
Mark
Well I'll be finched

Hi & welcome to the forum.
Some members find it easier to help if they have an idea of where you are (location).
doesnt have to be the town you live in, just knowing the state is a help.

I have Bourkes ( 1 male and a couple of hens ) in with my finches with no problems - but I foud my female scarlet chested to be quite bad tempered with the finch babies ( who didnt get out of her way as quickly as the adults ) the male scarlet also chased the Bourkes at breeding time. I now have my scarlets on their own.

Bourkes would be the pick of the neos , rosies are quite nice ... Ive got rosies , scarlets and turks ...scarlets arent too bad but they all have different personalities so you do get cranky buggers .
I spose try it and just watch and see how they get along ...good luck
