No fledglings here yet, eggs in some of the nests I can see in. But I am one of these silly people who put nest that are firmly fastened above head leval and am nervous of upsetting my finches by lifting down those that are not fixed. And almost all my nests are above head leval cause i am short. But it makes for nice surprises when they do appear.
Mothers Gouldians have fledged their first 2 lots of 3 after the complete rearangement of pairs and avairys.
So hopefully mine won't be far behind, though they did have a greater degree of disruption.
And we have been pretty short on for natural greens cause of the complete lack of rain for almost 3 months. Not even 5mm in that time.

It's been a good year here as well, because of my ill health I decided to concentrate on a low maintainance breed this year and opted for gouldians.
So far I have had 22 young fledge with other young still in the nest and around 5 nests with pairs sitting on eggs.
I know you shouldnt count your chickens before they hatch, but by all indications this is going to be a very good year.
Cheers

Mine Goulds are off to a flyer too. Have fledged 8 from 2 nests and have 3,5,4 to fledge.
Noticed first year breeders had first nest fails but fine on the next attempt.

My 5 BH G babies are ready to fledge anyday now.
A RH nest to hatch over the next few days...
Considering i have only had finches for a few months, all is well, though i am expecting a few tears sooner or later. All part and parcel of the experience.

Things are looking good. I just had a never ending nest finally empty of gouldian youngins, what I thought was a clutch of 4 turned into a clutch of 6, with another pair fledging a clutch of 2. No deaths so far.
