Licences to Keep Finches

I was just wondering about which sort of finches I can keep without any licence. I know that zebras are one, and definitely Gouldians, but what about star finches or the society, or Benglaese?
Have a nice day!

Only finches native to Australia require licensing. The exceptions are Zebras, Painteds, Gouldians, Stars and Blue Faced Parrot Finches.

It will vary from state to state. All non native in all states are of licence. Some non licenced birds maynot be permited to be kept in some states Eg W.A has tight laws on this..Some native Finches are not permited in some states both Tassie and W.A. Red-eareds and Beautifuls respectably.
N.S.W maybe similar to Victoria below someone from here with a N.S.W licence will need to clarifiy it.
Victoria
longtailed finch
chestnut breasted
double bar
gouldian
painted firetail
blueface parrot finch
Star finch
plumheaded finch
Zebra
No non native finches are banned from Victoria.

You need a bird license to keep Gouldian finches anywhere in Australia because they are a threatened species.
In Western Australia you don't need a license to keep Chestnut-breasted Mannikin, Double-bar Finch, Long-tailed (Blackheart) Finch, Star Finch or Zebra Finch.
Virtually everything else needs a license.
Below are links to the WA Parks & Wildlife website including Australian bird license and Imported bird license.

This is the list of native species that do not require licensing in NSW:

That's interesting. Normally any species that is classified as threatened or endangered requires permits to keep. Anyone know if people in the Northern Territory require a license to keep Gouldians?

WA has always had some of the tightest licensing rules. But some of the most reasonable fees. Cost me $70 this year to renew my advance avicultural licence for 1 year and my APB licence for 3yrs.

Apparently , yes ... in the N.T., the only finches that do not require a licence are Zebras, Double Bars, Long-tailed, and Chestnut Breasted Mannikins.Rod_L wrote: 15 May 2018, 22:50 Anyone know if people in the Northern Territory require a license to keep Gouldians?

What about Queensland, do they need a license for Gouldians?
If yes, I wonder why the states that are home to Gouldians require permits but other states that are not home to them don't require a permit. And I am really curious as to why the southern states don't need a permit for a bird that is classified as threatened in the wild?
