If you first dont succeed, try again, TAKE TWO
My first post on this subject is factually wrong, while writing that post, I monentareley believed that the AY is autosomal recessive, in fact it is sex linked,
that means that the sex linked factor which that Cockbird carries has a bleaching affect on the plumage, which does not paint a true picture of the australian dilute back gouldian finch, it is still a AD with a significant amount of contamination
Lime colour mutation or dilute mutation gouldian

Sorry for any confusion but Picture 2 and 3 are the same bird and he is I believe an AD SPLIT AY. My origional post was trying to understand the visual difference between the recessive Aussie dilute mutation and the recessive Lime mutation and I am not to much further advanced.

Hi surfartist. I know it’s 5 years later since you last posted, but I have the exact same issue with trying to identify the visual difference between the lime and the Australian dilute. No one can tell me. And it’s extra difficult to work it out when their modes of inheritance are the same!! Grrr are you any wiser since your last post? Cheers

Ok great. Thx Chris. Yeah I’ve just noticed that my 2 male ‘x factor’ gouldians have quite a light green back, probably also due to their white chest. Haven’t seen this type before with such a lime greeny back
Trying to pm u but won’t allow me. Perhaps u try to pm me? Thx
