White Headed Nuns are listed in Klaus Immelmann's book for it to be possible to cross breed with:
Chestnut, Double Bar and Black Throated.
It goes on to say that Spices will cross with:
Societies, Striated Finch, Silverbill's, Bronze Winged Mannikin's, Java's and Black Headed Munians.
That same info is in Russell Kingston's book.

There are countless paragraphs in books, avi magazines and even forums telling people that ALL Munias are highly likely to CROSS.
The Bengalese is a fertile Hybrid created by the Japanese to foster Gouldians along while ago.In those days the Gouldian wasn't as domesticated.
PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL HOUSING THE BIRDS TOGETHER.

yes I will!
I have no intention of fouling the captive populations of either species, if I see even the slightest sign i'll remove one species.

I have read you wants, when you are ready let me know and I will try to organise some for you.If not from my place then from one of my friends.
These days I do not keep many Aust. species. Painteds(heaps),Yellow Faced Stars and a few White Breasted Gouldians.
If you are serious about Blue Caps ONLY buy them from a breeder you know or who hase a reputation for selling stock bred on their premises.
You then have a far better chance of getting a true pair of similar age(important) and still young enough to breed instead of someones cast offs.
I would keep in contact with Kevin from the out back, having met the man I am sure he would do the right thing for you provided he has them available.

All Munias can cross. Which is so frustrating to someone who loves them and only has 3 avairies.
Time to chuck everything out from under one of these patio's and turn it into an avairy.
Pity I can' t move some of this stuff.
