I have a lot of young birds, Gouldians, Stars, Cherry Finches etc. Should I be giving them any soft food and what are the benefits if any?

Feed what they were brought up on by the parents. Green seeding grassses help and /or chitted sprouted seed as well as a good quality dry seed mix as well as a calcium plus D3 for good healthy bones.
