Hi, do people prefer plastic or aluminium leg rings ?
And with plastic leg rings that aren't numbered, what happens if another breeder uses the same coloured leg rings on same birds.. or are legrings mainly for your own personal records ?
I'm not sure if I'm being naive or not.

With finches its for id only for the most part. Split plastic did me well for yrs. I used one colour per family so when i sold them i new i was selling unrelated prs. I also had the year put on plus another number for id purposes.
Show birds like budgies or canaries need closed steel rings. Its an id and proof of age as the colour changes year by year.
