Hi there , I am relatively new finch owner, however have a fair amount of parrot experience. I have a pair of diamonds that I have owned for approx 12 mths. Over the last week the male seems to be plucking the female. She now has no tail feathers and this morning I found blood on her chest . I now have them separated which I did not want to do as they are a bonded pair. Any suggestions would be appreciated in what to do. Thanks in advance

Diamonds should be moulting out now so the missing feathers maybe due to that. Are you sure it is blood, i've seen diamonds with a red trace down though the white belly to the vent. A pic would good for more info. Craig

Birds that pick at blood sometimes lack something in their diet? Are you giving them plenty of greens and calcium through the moult? Don;t know the answer , just prompting with possibilities.

Yes doing that in their diet. Have added other nesting materials in case that may be the problem. Thanks for the suggestion

Good thinking. Finches like white nest lining, try a white tissue torn into strips. Hope they settle down for you.

I have moved them into a double flight cage as the hen can’t fly. I did notice yesterday her tail feathers are growing back. Since I put the extra nesting material in the male has to stopped plucking her
