Hi everyone. I'm from Penrith NSW ( yes one of the hottest places ) . Recently ( 4 years ago ) I retired, I am now 66 & finally have the time & able to seriously include finch keeping & breeding in my day to day again. Due to business commitments I wasn't involved with finches for 40 years . I was born & raised in Gunnedah NSW & always had Australian finches in my life as a kid. I have now 5 aviaries successfully keeping & breeding Crimsons, Yellow & Red Hooded Siskins, Tri-Colours, Diamond Firetails & Melbas. I also raise my own live food Mealworms, Crickets, Maggots & of course have Fruit Fly cultures. I have noticed that ALL my birds have an amazing appetite & favour the Pin Crickets, the babies are outstandingly energetic big & fit, certainly will reduce the intake after the breeding season finishes avoiding obesity etc. I enjoy reading the forum & thank everyone for there input as it certainly has helped myself develop & establish again in this wonderful hobby keeping & breeding finches. Cheers Gribbo.
