Welcome to the forum Kayjel!

What enclosure do you have them in (cage, aviary) and what size? What receptacles have they got to nest in? What diet are you feeding them?

Gouldians will usually nest in a nest box, however may nest in a brush cylinder (a cylinder made of 'dog wire' stuffed with branches of dense foliage and placed in the aviary) when in a mixed aviary situation. Painteds will always nest in brush because of the 'elaborate' nest they build. Longtails may nest in brush or a receptacle (e.g. wicker basket).

All three need lots of greens when breeding (leafy greens, cucumber, seeding grasses, sprouted seed etc). A good soft food mix and grit (e.g. baked eggshells, shell grit, cuttlebone etc) are also relished by the species and often are the key to getting them to breed. Gouldians especially eat a lot of cuttlebone when breeding!!

Remember, if you don't suceed, try and try again. There are many aspects which could be causing them not to breed. Sometimes it's simply just having to gain experience.

Thanks,
Aidan

You will get better results with Gouldians if you don't keep shaft-tails in with them. The shaft-tails interfere with the Gouldians during nesting.

Have lots of bottle neck nests for the shaft-tails. Gouldians can have logs or nest boxes for small parrots.

Put lots of non toxic plants in the aviary. Feed the birds a varied diet including lots of green grass seeds. Let them do the rest.
