I recently acquired a young gouldian whose colours hadn’t come in until fairly recently. She has an orange head which is normal but her chest is blue which I have never seen. I have spoken to a friend of mine who breeds gouldians and he mentioned that he has never seen this colour variation before. She is very beautiful and as time passes the blue gets more pronounced. Has anyone seen this before? I have googled this mutation and have found nothing….any input would be greatly appreciated..
I’m attaching a photo. She’s the one on the very right of the photo.
Without seeing the photo of the bird, at a guess. Is it a white breast with a tinge of blue through it? I have seen this in some white breasts, I call it a dirty white breast
Interesting how old? Maybe gove it some more time sometimes you have lightly coloured males in mutations. Sometimes mutations can be difficult to sex before a molt
Interesting. Could be a "dirty white" which I quite like. But wonder if it is possible to get another photo or 2 from different angles. The "powder blue" appears to go up the side of her head, but I am unsure if that is just because of the angle and looking through the wires. Also curious because the other hen is a normal and the cock is a single factor yellow.
None of the others are related to her…..I recently bought her from another source therefore I don’t know what her mom and dad look like. I will take some more photos..
