The canaries are two years old, I thought that would be a bit young to have a calcium buildup older canaries have that can look like scaley mites, I’m not sure if maybe it is normal, I don’t have a lot of experience with these guys

Look healthy to me. Do you know for certain that they are 2yrs old? Or is that what you have been told?
Similar to my 3/4yr old birds, is why I am asking. If you see real scaley mite legs you will know the difference.

Thanks, it's a relief to know that they don't have them.finchbreeder wrote: ↑21 Nov 2021, 18:00 Look healthy to me. Do you know for certain that they are 2yrs old? Or is that what you have been told?

When I got them they were just independent from their parents, and have had them for slightly less than 2 years, so I figured that would make them 2yrs old.

Yes it sounds like they are only 2yrs. Could just be the pics that look a little scalier than my similar age ones. But not unhealthy looking to me. Been putting mine all back together in one avairy, now they seem to have decided breeding season is over. Looked closely at the younguns incomparison to the parents. Not really a big difference in legs.
