Hello I need help with ideas for my 1.5 x 1.5 aviary. It currently has a pair of bobwhite quail. I was thinking a pair of Saint Helenas and a pair of tri colour parrot finches. Double bars seem to need liscence in the act.

Sounds like about the right number of finches for the avairy. I would have thought that Bobwhites are a bit big to keep in that size avairy but.

Never had anything to do with Bobwhites as we "Westies" are prohibited from owning them. But was going on my keeping of the smaller quail, and their relationship to the finches. e.g. Kings and Button fine with finches. Stubble OK with finches (that was a few years back) coturnix not really OK with finches, just plain too chook like.

I kept tri-coloured parrotfinches in a small aviary for a while (possibly 1.5x1.5) and they got too fat. I don't think they were able to get enough exercise, because they thinned out immediately in 8m aviary.

If you get just Double Bars a small flock of 6 would do OK in there. Based on mine.

How about solar lights round the outside edge of the inside of the avairy. Hope that makes sence.
