Hi what are peoples views and experiences with using dishwashers to clean their bird trays. I see when I did a search that others use a dishwasher. Im concerned the bird sh@@ getting tossed around where we wash our dishes. Should i wash them separately and run some bleach through the dishwasher after ( this maybe detrimental to the dishwasher) or not worry about it. I could hunt around for a dishwasher for the bird room but have found they dont last long as the dont get used enough. Thankyou john

I wouldn't be allowed to let alone use the house dishwasher for my birds containers for the reasons you said. So I set-up a kitchen sink and water attached to my bird room.
The way I did it was to have two complete sets of bird containers so one is use and other set is washed and dried for the next day. I only had cold water no hot water so left them soaking during the day in cold water and vircon s or morning fresh detergent then later on rinsed and dried for the next days use.

Thanks Craig up until now ive been doing similar. I recently increased the amount of trays, so i decided to try the dishwasher which was way quicker and easier, but how safe is it?
