Just wanting to ask if anyone has any rare bird/human moments they want to share?
Ill start with mine , years ago I had Ollie (hand reared quarrion) snuggled under my dressing gown on my chest while watching TV , she was babbling away in her own little birdie language and I wasnt taking much notice of her.
After a while she started nuzzling something and much to my surprise she had laid her very first egg , on me .
She still babbles when she lays but now she knows what a nest is all about.

Now that is what you call trust!

I have a gouldian male that I bred, if I have a stem of green seed in my hand and call him he will land on the stem while Im still holding it. Not sure if he trusts me or is just a brave bird, or is just a pig when when it comes to green seed.

I remember when I had my 1st and 2nd batches of quail chicks.
I named the first silver chick Bubbles. He was adorable, completely tame. even when I put him in the aviary with all the other adult quails, he always would come to my hand to see if I had a mealworm. and also, when I was sitting on the concrete block in the aviary, just watching the finches, he would come and jump on my lap for a snuggle!! :D
Then the day came when I had to give him up. He had to go, he was one of 16 males to 4 females!
I still see him occasionally, he went to a friend of mine, but he doesn't come for snuggles anymore. :(
Well, that's one of mine anyway. then there's the story of skinnipeep, but that's far to long! :)

I sold a scarlet today and Im over the moon the way things worked out , Ive been saying to hubby for a few days Id love the keep her and tame her as she is very comfortable sitting on our hands and seems to trust us .
A lady rang today wanting a Turk to hand tame , she wasnt aware of the need for a license or that Turks can be a bit well nasty , she asked if I knew of a scarlet and BINGO done deal .
She arrived with a huge cage for indoors and after drilling her Im sure this little bird has gone to a great home.
These are the times when it is rewarding putting in the extra time to let the birds learn to trust us and seeing them go to good homes ....beats dropping them off at the pet shop and not knowing .

when i had my zebbies bred 2 boys where born and they were white and one of them would fly over to the side of the cage when i come near then fly over near me and started signing in front of me.
And when i come near with food and put it in the little aviary they would all fly down and eat the seed and when water is there they go to drink it then fly to a perch then fly back down.

his a sad moment for you guys i used to have a pair of quails a male and female and they had babies and they died one after the other but that's not the sad part. My mum got this quail i think it was a king quail and put it in with my quails and a few days later my male quail got his head pecked at and it was bleeding and i felt sorry for it so i moved it into a cage where it could heal but it died the next morning and i hated that quail that pecked my quail and i wanted to kill it because i was so angry but i couldn't kill it but i moved it in with my brothers birds 3 cockatiels and my 3 budgies and i have a dog called Shashea a chihuahua and that dog was like me it hated the quail and it would run around the cage after the quail until one morning i woke up and i went to see my birds from my dinning room window and get this Shashea was in the cage and i ran out and the quail was dead but it was kinda funny and sad but the funny part was that she was running around the cage for weeks and she didn't eat the quail thats the kinda funny part but the sad part was that we lost 3 budgies and 1 cockatiels
