Joy Joy Joy my hen has laid another egg. She was so proud & promptly showed me her work. Now she is sitting on her nest with the cock posted guard. You can see they are so proud of there effort. I will post more pictures when they become comfortable of there new situation.

Thank you Diane I have one spare cage the one my birds started out in. Problem will be catching the young if they dont become finger trained. Mum & Dad are tame but not comfortable with a hand coming at them. It is so wonderful to watch them taking turns on the nest, like having National Geographic in live view. This is the first time I have ever had a pet have young.

The iPhone seems to be perfect to get pictures here is the latest update.

Thought you would like to know almost two months ago I put the small cane finch nest back in the cage. My pair would stand on top but never venture in. Well today they decided to check out the inside taking turns & then both together. So I gave them more nest materials & they were so happy. I dont know where they have stashed it but they seem comfortable with a traditional finch nest. Now to get some eggs & babies. For folks who dont know my Zeb pair live inside in my kitchen / family room & the house is heated, so they are spoiled finches. Hopping to get some young that I might get finger trained.

My pair are doing a better job @ tending there nest. They are so quiet & if there out of the nest it's not for long. Except @ night when they seem to forget. I know there was one egg in there last week. One can only hope for the best & they know what they are doing.

Update my pair are tending nest very well only one is out of the nest @ a time. So I do feel there is some activity in there with eggs.

Is there going to be my need to buy any special food for babies ?
