How many maggots should I be giving to 1 pair of Red Faced Parrot finches per day? I started off giving them 2 each but they devour them immediately. I'm wondering if I should give them more. Cheers.

The maggots I got are from a bait shop. I assume these are safe to give to them? They seem to like them.

When I buy the mealworms I usually add some Insect booster powder to the bedding mix they have in the box. The label says
"a complete insect food that fortifies the nutritional composition of insects commonly fed to insectivorous mammals, reptiles and birds."

mate as long as they look creamy white and no dark stripe down the middle they will be fine. if they still have the dark stripe place them in some fresh pollard to help clean them out and the pollard makes them much easier to sive.....pete

Yes they look creamy white to me. No stripe to be seen.

Where do you get this insect booster from Diane?

I think it was from Camsal. I would think any reptile or fish or bird place would stock it.
This is what the tub looks like.

A mate has a bait shop.He keeps them in a fridge out the back,He tells me they never turn. They are in some kind of black stuff.I would also clean them out in bran, and that insect booster is ok for a small amount of birds to use for magots.

Thats what I thought too, as I only have a few birds that eat live food I thought I might as well make them the best they could be. One tub usually lasts about a week or so, but they dont get them every week. So the mealworms get to eat some of the Insect Booster.
