See if you can get Canary water bottle tops these are what I used when I used to breed Canarys.

Surface tension,once a bird puts its beak on the drop of water it breaks the surface tension and water flows.Similar to capillary action.

Like the old magic trick where the magician puts a piece of paper over a full glass of water , tips it upside down pulls the paper away and the water stays in the glass.
So long as the surface tension isn't broken the water will stay put . Pretty cool hey . :D
