Well, in the aftermath of the Canberra Avicultural Society Bird Sale, I have finally got a chance to sit down and write about it.
All said, it was a pretty good sale, good clearance rate and (though i left early), it seemed as though a lot of birds were sold.
There were lots of traders, selling things such as nesting logs, boxes, tunes, baskets etc. books, magazines (including the new Russell Kingston book for just $135 with no postage/handling, obviously), DVDs, feed trays/bowls/dishes/etc., medicines, leg rings, feed, nesting materials, etc. etc. etc. etc.
It wasn't a huge sale, but there were good numbers of birds, I estimate about 200 birds (though that's probably way off). Interesting birds, mostly reasonable prices. Most of the finches came from a dealer from Sydney, Andrew's Bird & Pet Palace.
There was also a good selection of species:
Parrots:
rosella - crimson, eastern (opaline, cinnamon red & normal), pale-headed, western.
Neophemas - turquoise, scarlet chested (some white fronted blue & normals), elegants
Other Grass Parrots - Hoodeds, red rumps (about 30 different mutations + normals)
Cockatoos - little corellas, Glossy Black cockatoos, galahs (a couple of different subspecies including Khuli)
Conures - Sun, Nanday, Jandaya (cinnamon)
Macaws - Hahn's
Ringnecks - many different mutations
Other Parrots - Eclectus, Quakers (blue and normal)
Lovebirds - Fischer's, peach-faced (Lutinos, and many other mutations, including normal), Masked (blue and normal), Red Faced

Lories - Dusky
Finches:
AUSTRALIAN

Long tailed Grassfinch
Parson (Black Throated) - normals and creams

Diamonds - normal and fawn

I went to the sale and whilst there were a large number of birds as far as finches were concerned it was not exhaustive and the birds from Andrews looked a little 'ratty' in my opinion. Guess we will just have to wait until next month when the Finch Club sale is on.

nope, camera stayed behind, being looked at by me personal technician, dad. He's not great, still stuffed.
My phone DOES have a camera - and yes I have one! but it's not very good and I can't take photos from my phone -cam and put them onto the computer so not much point.
Now swapping it for birds... now that's a good idea! why didn't I think of that??
