thanks everyone for your advice. Tried the 'woks' but I'm a bit of a custard arm and even when I hit the fence right next to them they aren't at all phased. It started with one and its baby now has grown to a pack of four! One on each section of wire and my poor finches are nearly having a heart attack in the ten seconds it takes me to run out and chase them away. Will go to the shops tomorrow and see what I can buy to help protect them. Only up side to al this is Im getting quite fit from sprinting up the hallway everytime I hear the dreaded things.

You can get those plastic/rubber snakes or owl statues that could be put on top of the aviary. Maybe a stuffed cat on the top of the aviary

In summer one of those powerful water guns the kids use could be a good deterant. Not in cooler weather but, just in case some water splashes the finches in the process. You don;t have to have as good an arm that way.

I have a couple of indian mynas terrorising my finches daily. Only a matter of time before I have losses. Time to invest in a slug gun. Can't wait!

Try mounting a plastic hawk/eagle above your aviary or a snake, where your birds cant see it.
