hello all im keeping gouldians on a colony basis and doing quit well im now on 4th year perant reared. i also keep stars ,bichenos in the same set up .my stars i thought got of to a good start sitting 5 eggs they all hatched and she did a great job of bringing them to fledge and ween great you may think ! when they left the nest to my suprise they are all gouldian chicks . why i dont know ,she as gone on to do it time and time again .the young she fist reared are now some of the best breeding birds in the group rearing all there young to ween .all my star. are taking on the roll of midwife as soon as a chick sceams from a gouldian nest the quickly tend and feed all and then go back to there own. they feed loads of soft food as do the young they reared to there young to .

Thats certainly different from the species normally known for fostering! That hen is a diamond, a real earth mother.
