anyone ever thought it would be handy to have a swap section in the classifieds of the forum?
i'd be interested in swapping birds for the purposes of both selling unrelated young pairs and keeping up good breeding stock, and who better to swap with than other people we already network with online? don't know about others but i tend to get some pairs that breed prolifically and another pair of the same species that still breeds, just less so, meaning i can only sell a certain number of unrelated pairs...
just a thought.

i agree spanna, there is a need for this service.
to make it work we need to get together with our nearest aviculturists who breed birds.
maybe even a group all willing to freight birds.....
isolation/distance puts the dampener on these good ideas.
maybe breeders could offer up birds available to swap and get the info out to only those on there swap/contact list .
there always seems to be a security issue.
breeders with expensive birds are naturally cautious of divulging to much info for fear of theft etc .
im all for it..... as i need some new stock
open to suggestions.
but i cant come to w.a. to get em......

security is always an issue but it would totally be up to the discretion of a person to divulge personal information. maybe a group (like "registered users", "admins" etc) could be created that one needs to be a part of to gain access to the "swap" forum...
"all round good bloke/gal" group
like, you need one or two people to vouch for you to gain access as a trusted person or something...
sounds a bit unfair though doesn't it?
not my intention!!

It could simply be tried here as a swap section in the buy/sell section. To begin with. If the Administrator does not mind.
As with buy/sell, requirement to put your state then what you want to swap. So people can decide if willing to risk freighting or just go local. See how it goes and go from there. Good suggestion Spanna.
