I have been unable to load the AFF website when I am on the web at home for the last few days, but can load the page and log in just fine while at work (which is where I am posting from now). All other web pages load just fine at home. I have tried both my preferred browser (Opera) and IE and am getting the same result. The resulting error message when i try to load/refresh the page reads something like "connection closed by remote server". Is it possible my home IP may have been blocked?

Well it's definately not Opera, cause that is what I am using. If that helps.

Ive checked and there hasnt been any IP blocking done. I cant see anything that looks odd but Im sure Mickp will check it out when he gets online too.

The issue still persists. I have checked with my ISP, who have requested:
the results of the traceroute and telnet to the website for further investigation.

Can anyone tell me how to get this stuff? :wtf:

This sounds more high tech than I can cope with.
Ive have sent a pm with the topic link to Page0044 so he will be aware of it and hopefully can contact someone who can help.

have you recently changed ISP's? if so your new one could be on the blocked list.
If not then it's up to Greg

Hi MadHatter,

A traceroute can be done by (instructions may be slightly different depending on what version of windows you are running)

Click the "Start Button"
Click "run" or type "cmd" and press enter (a blak box should appear on the screen)

type tracert aussiefinchforum.net

lots of numbers will be displayed on the screen - it may take 30 seconds or so

click on the top left hand corner of the black box window where it has a little picture with "C:\"
click on the "Edit" menu - click on the "Mark" menu
click and hold on the top left hand corner of the text window and drag your mouse down to the bottom right hand corner.

This information can now be pasted into an email or forum post for people to investigate

a traceroute gives the "directions" from your computer to the resulting website - it's almost like traffic directions - it can show where the break in traffic is occuring.

hope that helps.

Well I'll be, this issue seems to have resolved itself. So very odd.
