Found out the hard way that heat lamps that are placed outside the cage as a source of heat for a sick bird can explode if a bird shakes or sneezes and a drop of liquid lands on the hot bulb .
Made an almighty bang , glass shattered all over the place and half the house shut down (only the lights stayed on all else shorted out ).

not only that , it can cook your pet bearded dragon while its recovering in a box outside(had an op at the vet) to get some natural uv and the heat generated while not switched on was enough to cook her....well according to another vets autopsy any way.. they are dangerous at the best of times.....pete

Was the lamp in the hospital cage you built? :notsure: I thought you made a separate compartment for the light?

No Di I was getting it used to a normal weaning cage as we were heading of to the kids place ( and taking bird with us ) , so the heat lamp was sitting outside the cage pointing in ...was doing a great job too .
