Aluminium split rings

How do people open aluminium split rings? I have been useing a drill bit to do it,But sometimes they get damaged this way, Also when squasing them back on with my fingers some dont line up propley, And need to be cut off.I have ordered a ring aplicator last year,But was unable to attend the last sale for the year to pick it up,So if anyone has the contact details for the English gentleman who sells leg rings (imported from England) etc at the Vic sales,That would also be apreciated.Or someone who sells the aplicator aswell(Chapmans dont).

The aluminum split leg rings.....are they supposed to have a little "tag" at the side once they are on birds leg?

Yeh, he also sells breeding boxes, carry cages, seed hoppers, etc and his wife Kaye also helps at the bird sales, he lives not to far from me, wouldn't hurt to give a call to see what he has, he may be able to post to u?
