Finally after two unsuccessful attempts courtesy of the stars, our OBs have some chicks which hatched over the last couple of days. they have added feathers to the inside of the nest so can't really see but could see something very small and dark moving. I think there are at least 2 chicks but not sure. I guess we will have to wait and see!

and our quails are back on the job, with 5 eggs laid so far. we moved the four chicks to the other aviary and they are settling in. Occasionally they call to each other between the cages but generllay they are all settled.

The stars did manage to lay 5 eggs (3 infertile) but proceeded to abandon the next. I swear these two are duds!!!

Thanks. they are getting mini meal worms as well as insectivore, soft food, sprouted seed + normal seed. Haven't seen the parents actually feed but they may do it more subtly when they return to the nest to sit. Hope your OBs get their act together soon though it sounds like there is plenty happening in your aviary anyway. :)

Hi Shanny, OB is orange breasted finches. Yes I know birds can get pushed out of the nests, someone was telling me today that the parents push out birds who have something wrong with them, or maybe the weaker ones ?
