Thanks guys. Will go to my local Metal Land & Aluminium supplier to see if they stock the Qubelok product, looks good & would be easy to errect just a bit dearer. As for a holding aviary for young, I do have a spare 2m x 2m pre-fab aviary which I would use as a start then if successful would have to upgrade it.
Currently breed Gouldians, Painteds & White Headed Nuns @ my place so happy to leave them in there current setup. Then new aviary that I will be building at my Dads place would be for different breeds, seems a common suggestion to stick to a lower amount of pairs per aviary, so maybe I'll look at just 3 pairs of 2 different breeds in each section possibly, even by doing it that way it still gives me room for 10 new breeds/species.
Really like the following finches,
Diamond
Cordon Bleu
Strawberries
Orange Breasted
Star
Double Bars
Tri Coloured Parrot
Tri Coloured Nun
Cuban

And as Cubans are only ever kept 1 pair to an avairy you can put 3 types. 3 pair double bars, 3 pair orange breasteds, 1 pair cubans. For example. 14 birds. And to get your 3 pairs of cubans you can do this in 3 avairys. :winktongue:

Hi Matt I have better results with only 1pair ,per species, per aviary. At the moment i have R/F Pieds,Tri coloured Parrot finches, cordon bleu, orange breasts, stars, painteds, and in some aviarys Diamonds. I find this mix of breeds good and dont have any trouble with fighting or cross breeding. As long as you have pairs of R\F Pieds (or sea greens) and Tri coloured parrot finches you shouldnt have any problems, its only if you have a spair cockbird he might cross with the other parrot finches.(Dont try it with B\F Parrot finches because they will mate with anything if they can). The only live food i feed is maggots and they are all bringing out young. My cages are about 2m x 4m and 2m high and i take the young ones out after about 4-6 weeks after they leave the nest or you will have cages over flowing . Good luck i hope this helped.
