So it's only been 2 days since we swapped all the quails around and much to my shock and surprise at around 10 am the first egg was laid by Mallory in the small aviary!! Yay... I went out for abbot an hour cane home n found an egg in the main aviary! :) I don't know who the mum is though as both females and kingy are rolling the egg and protecting it from the finches. Lol
I rang my hubby at work and he is so excited! I'll admit I'm a totally proud mum n almost cried when I saw the first egg :p
I've read that it's an idea to number the eggs as they are laid but I'm not sure what to use to mark them and wouldn't that disturb their nest somewhat?? Help! Lol
Thanks :)

well done! :D
I don't think any numbering is necessary, just wait and watch.
if you can don't disturb the nest, you CAN d it but better safe than sorry.

Your call if you do or dont, if you do use a fineliner tip marking pen. Very fineline and soft tip. They don't get upset like finches do if you touch their eggs before they get serious about the sitting.
