Ive just been moving some birds from the main aviary as Im going to be changing it into two aviaries rather than one big one. ( :soppy: husband really  )

As I was seeing who I can move I noticed the pink pied fire finch hen come out of a nest, so I checked and :soppy: two babies :soppy: Finally! Been looking forward to getting some from this pair. So I guess they will be staying in there for a while.
I cant move the emblema yet as their babies just fledged during the week, the young gouldians havent coloured up enough to be able to say what sex they are yet, so they might as well take advantage of the bigger area.
Only birds I manged to move were the OB pair.

Congratulations on your babies. So nice to get results from birds who had not previously co-operated.

I have just moved a pr of A/f from the main avairy to a smaller one, must find an easier way that is less stressful for both me and the birds.
A net in a large aviary is not the way to go.Will google "bird traps " for some ideas.
Cheers Greg.

I have had to resort to catching a pair of turks up at night for fear the girl would pass out on me , not ideal but leaving a light on in the new aviary helped them to settle that night .

Well done Di

Congrats. There is nothing so satisfying as finally getting a pair to be productive! Well done. Good thing you found the nest before moving finches about.

I admit they fooled me, I never saw the cock flying about with a feather like his Dad did. No nests built in any one of the 4 baskets in the aviary. They built inside a box, :whoa: when I opened the box there was a feather and grass ball in one corner, no noise from the nest so they must be very young. I just checked the nest, felt the warm bodies :whoohoo: :whoohoo: and quickly put the box back.
