Hi. Just got back into keeping finches after 10 years. All set up and have had 1 pair gouldian, 1 pair blue faced parrot and 1 pair zebra for about 10 days. Noticed tonight that the Female gouldian is staying on the floor, cannot fly much and is quite puffed up. I have put some seed and water for her in a dish on the floor away from the perches.
Any suggestions on what I should do?

Im no expert but I would check for swelling around the vent , could be egg bound .
Then I would check for injuries .
The one thing you have said kinda has the hairs on my neck up a bit and thats the fact that you have only had the birds 10 days , might pay to get her into a hospital box of sorts where you can watch for other symptoms that can help forumers point you in some direction as to treatment.
Watch the other birds just in case some funky infectious thing has come into your aviary with your birds.

Good luck with her and I do think removing her from the aviary wont hurt her as she hasnt been in there long enough to have settled ...

Coccidial protozoa. Gouldians are chronic for it specially in wet conditions.

Go to the head of the class Mr Buzz ...of course with all the rain around

Quick google of the problem and youll get some brands of over the counter meds to have on hand.

Is she still molting? If she is might have an issue flying due to feather loss?? I'd just give her a warm spot to recover, best of luck.

Yes, she is still moulting. I have created a small nesting area for her on the ground next to a log in the aviary. Checked her this morning and she has used this overnight. Seems bright and lively other than not flying.
